Simply copying and pasting text from MS Word into WordPress is problematic. Though it looks like plain text, it actually contains a bunch of formatting from Word that is, at best, unrelated to the formatting in the CSS for WordPress. At worst, it can really cause some major alignment and font issues.
How to avoid it? Any of these methods will work. Which one you choose depends on your needs.
- Write directly in the WP WYSIWYG editor
- Copy the text from Word, click on the HTML tab, and copy it there, then switch back to Visual Editor
- Copy the text from Word. In the WP editor, click the Advanced Toolbar buttons (#1 below), then click on the Word icon on the toolbar (#2), paste your text in that window.

At the top of the editor, there are four icons next to the Upload/Insert title. From left to right, they are Photo, Video, Music, Other.
Click the photo icon.

Select the image file from your local machine.

After your image uploads, it will display in the box. Scroll down to the bottom of that window and click Insert Into Post.
